The Create Lab program is providing small grant subsidies to support contemporary musicians to been seen and heard.

About Create Lab

Contemporary musicians will be invited to use digital storytelling to develop their profiles, extend their networks, and form new collaborations to create screen-based video works and/or digital assets. Responding in some way to themes of time, place, people and culture. Mentoring workshops facilitated by local composer and director, David Gagliardi will provide support, technical advice and networking opportunities. Project partners Emporium Creative Hub will be providing access to meeting rooms, studio, workstations, and green screens to participating artists. The project will culminate in a launch event with screen-based works played on the Hargreaves St Mall AV Screen.Create Lab intends to: 
  • Support contemporary musicians to gain exposure through digital and video works that can be used as promotion
  • Support new collaborations and partnerships among Greater Bendigo’s creative community
  • Offer artists practical advice
  • Provide access to workspace, meeting space, studio for filming, green screen
  • Provide mentoring through peer support, industry support and networking opportunities
  • Provide seed funding that encourages artists to test ideas that may see further development, funding or full realisation

Key information

Up to $4,000 (ex GST) is available for projects that can demonstrate merit across one or more of the following areas:

  • An untested idea that needs support to be explored
  • Demonstrated value of the project to the development of the idea, skills of the artist or artists involved
  • A new collaboration or creative partnership between artists and/or artforms that extends the skills and capacity of artists
  • Projects that represent a diverse range of art forms including film and sound works, collaborative and interactive work, video installation, hybrid or experimental forms
  • Partnerships with community organisations, community partners, community service providers
  • Support for emerging artists
  • Collaboration between different creative sectors or industries
  • Projects that are exploratory in scope and respond creatively to themes time, place, people and culture
