Our Live Gig Debut with Earth Cadet

On Saturday March 9th, we held our very first live gig in the not-so-new store and VENUE!

Even for just a test-run with minimal prep and much more to be worked on going forward, I think it’s safe to say we’re pretty proud of where things have gone and are going.

We've been wanting to kick off with gigs for a while now, but the want for it to be as good as it can has somewhat delayed us. We have a lot of big, really cool ideas for this space and how we want to run things here to be the best that it can, but we know that if you wait until you've perfected something, it will never actually happen.

The solution? Do it anyway.

For what was a VERY last-minute plan to put together a pop-up gig with no real marketing or announcement whatsoever, with staging bits borrowed from all over and favours called in just days before, we actually did it!

The evening kicked off with a quiet bustle from 3pm thanks to the Moonlight Market taking place in the Hargreaves Mall, and Earth Cadet playing 1 of 2 sets at 5:10pm. We had crazy-cheap (non-alcoholic) drinks available at our bar - including the fantastic non-alcoholic XPA from Heaps Normal, and the store still open for sales all night.

Earth Cadet's sets (and possibly the surprise of live music coming from the previously-peaceful storefront in the first place) drew a humble crowd in over the evening and we had a blast.

We want to take a mo' to thank everyone who helped us out -
from Georgia (@lovebygeorgia) and David (@coniferhillphotography) capturing the evening on camera, to local friends lending us lighting and staging, Earth Cadet who played for the night, and any of the folks who came in to see what was 'not' happening, we couldn't have done it without all of you.
